Rules

This version of the castaway challenge is based off of Greenolive's version mostly, only with a few tweaks, but mostly the same. You can find her version here:

Greenolive based her version off of Katie Haven's version, which was the original. You can find her version here:

Overall:
Go ahead and choose a difficulty level. This will determin many things that you do in the next steps as you set up. You can choose from Easy, Intermediate, or Hard.

Sims:
You should have 2 sims. Atleast one of them should be a Young Adult. Dress them according to the theme, as castaways. They must be both in the same family. They may not have any type or relationship. For traits, look below:

Easy game:
Green Thumb
Angler
Handy
+ 2 others of your choice
Intermediate game:
Angler
Handy
+ 3 others of your choice
Hard game:
Handy
+4 others of your choice

Food:
No fridges or stoves, or anything that supplies food through build/buy mode. You may gather fruit from trees and gardens and seeds must be gathered around the island. Fish may not be bought with cheats or at any venues. There shouldn't be any venues anyways..Ever..

Backpack:
You may choose from 2 different backpack sets for each difficulty level, which will be listen below. You may use cheats ONLY to aquire the items in your chosen set and difficultly level. Once you have everything in your backpack, you may never buy anything again until specified otherwise in the rules. Nor may you build anything. That means no walls, no floors, no toilets, nothing. You may use the rock shower from the castaway set at Mod The Sims, but only if it blends in with the surroundings. So basically, it must look like NOTHING is man-made on the island. Each sim gets one backpack set. You could have them both have the same backpack set, or one can have one set and the other can have the other set. It's your choice. Here are the sets:

Easy game:
Set 1:
1 Gardening book volume 1
1 Gardening book volume 2
1 Handiness book volume 1
1 Lettuce
1 Tomato
Set 2:
1 Gardening book volume 1
1 Gardening book volume 2
1 Handiness book volume 1
Intermediate game:
Set 1:
1 Gardening book volume 1
1 Lettuce
Set 2:
1 Handiness book volume 1
1 Tomato
Hard game:
Set 1:
1 Lettuce SEED
Set 2:
1 Tomato SEED

Exchange System:
Wood:
In real life, you need wood to make houses, fireplaces, furniture, and pretty much anything on your island. This is why I suggest the island you choose to use has a lot of trees on it. Every 2 sim days, you may cut down 1 tree per sim, if that sim does absoloutly NOTHING but take occasional breaks to fill important needs (Like hunger, toilet, and sleep) for those 2 days. That means you get to delete 1 tree in the world in exchange for [Insert 'x' number] wood. Each tree gives you 10 wood. Wood can be saved up, meaning if you have extra after buying something, you may keep it. The charts below has more information.
Time:
It takes time to make things in real life, right? Well, now it does in Sims 3, too! If you look at the charts below you'll find out how much time and wood it takes to make things in both build mode and buy mode. I am only including items from CC I have downloaded (Links will be provided above each chart.) for this particular matter, along with a few items that I think are acceptable in the way off design (It has to match the theme, right?) Before you build something, you have to have atleast 1 person stop doing absoloutely anything for the specified number of in-game minutes. If you have 2 people building or more, you may add together the amount of time that each one does nothing until you get the equilivent of the specified number. For example, if something you want to build takes 30 in-game minutes to build, and you have 30 people working on it at once, you'd only have too have each person wait for 1 second. But if you only had 2 people working on it, you'd have both of them wait 15 seconds. Or, you could make 1 person wait 20 seconds and the other wait 10 seconds. It doesn't have to be even. You could also have only 1 person working, and they would have to wait 30 seconds. There's a lot of different ways to do it, but as long as it equals the specified number, it's alright. Time may not be saved up, meaning if you have extra after buying something, you must throw it away.

Rewards:
Most of the objects in Buy Mode are marked as a reward. What does that mean? It means you can only get it if you meet the reward requirement for the specified object, and if you have enough wood and time. Some things are simple, like if you decide to write a story, you get to have the Castaway Shower and the Castaway Dresser. You get to have these items because if you write a story, it makes sense that you want it to be more realistic. So you'll want to take the time to make a waterfall-like location on your world just so you can make the shower fit in with the surroundings, right? Generally, any person not writing a story would just want to put it anywhere, even if it looks totally out of place. Because, I mean, who's there to judge 'em? But since the purpose of this challenge is to make things much more realistic, we don't want a rock shower in the middle of a grassy lot. It makes absoloutely no sense, so thereforth it is not realistic. So, to avoid that, we are encouraging people who use this object to write a story. And it has a double benifit, too. We get more people reading stories for this challenge because there are more people out there with stories for this challenge, so thereforth some of the people who write stories might direct people to us for the challenge rules. And that gets more viewers. So we're basically just killing 2 birds with one stone.

But does all that really matter? Most of it, no. It was meant to be just an example and I kind of got carried away and now I don't feel like deleting it. But anyways, let's get on to the rewards:

Smart Minds:
You must get to level 5 in 3 different skills.
Reward: Castaway Bookshelf.
Story Writer:
You must write atleast 1 chapter based off this challenge.
Reward: Castaway Shower & Castaway Dresser.
Sit Back and Relax:
You must survive 10 days on the island with no objects, spending most of your time gathering wood, gardening, fishing, or something else productive that does not require the use of an object.
Reward: Castaway Hammok & Castaway Hopscotch.
Survival Master:
You must survive 50 days on the island with no objects, spending most of your time gathering wood, gardening, fishing, or something else productive that does not require the use of an object.
Reward: Castaway Leanto & Castaway Shower.
Whoops! I forget to make a toilet:
You must pee on yourself atleast one time.
Reward: Castaway Toilet (Box), Castaway Toilet (Leather), & Castaway Toilet (Leaves).
Tiny Feet:
You must have your first child:
Reward: Castaway Crib & Castaway Potty Chair.

Goal:
To have 100 babies on an isolated island and populate the island with your children.

Conclusion:
Yes, it's finally over. I thank everyone and anyone who had the guts to read this start to finish, and I sincerely hope you will start doing this challenge in your own game. Good bye! ^.^
